Using Niacinamide Correctly

İbrahim Emin Luleci ·

Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3 and one of the most researched ingredients in skincare. It is water-soluble, has a lightweight texture, and can be easily used on different skin types.

What it does for the barrier

The most notable aspect of niacinamide for the barrier is that it supports the skin's own ceramide synthesis. Ceramides are the main building blocks of the lipid mortar between cells. Therefore, niacinamide helps balance water loss and makes the skin feel more supple.

In addition, it supports a more even-looking skin tone and makes pores appear more balanced.

Why the concentration matters

A higher concentration does not always mean better. In studies, niacinamide has mostly been examined at low and medium percentages; high concentrations can cause redness and sensitivity in some skin types. YECHL Care Serum contains niacinamide in a balanced range of 3.12–5.32%, which will not strain the barrier.

How to use

  • Apply after cleansing and toning, but before cream.
  • Can be used morning and evening.
  • It works well with ceramides and hyaluronic acid: one helps complete the lipid mortar, while the other helps retain moisture.
  • If you are just starting, use it once a day and increase the frequency as your skin gets used to it.

Can it be used with vitamin C?

The old view that the two neutralize each other is generally no longer considered applicable to modern formulations. However, if you have sensitive skin, it may be more comfortable to use them at different times of the day: vitamin C in the morning and niacinamide in the evening.

In short

Niacinamide is a gentle active that supports the barrier without straining it. When used at the right concentration and regularly, it helps the skin return to its own strength.
